Matlab Struggles: do not copy selected text !!1!11

Recently I was very annoyed by Matlab’s editor stubbornly copying all text I selected.

As I am used to mark the text that I want to replace, this behaviour sabotaged my workflow. I already had come across this problem about a year ago and knew there was a solution, however, no combination of search terms led to a useful hint.

Finally — after some deep search in my own brain — I remembered that the problem was not with Matlab, but with a preference in MobaXterm, an application I utilize to work remote on our Linux machines from Windows. This insight helped me to find the answer. And in case I lose my MobaXterm preferences again, a short note to myself:

MobaXterm: Settings->Configuration X11 Sever Clipboard: disable ‘copy on select’
